Hello, I am German.

A short story

In 2000, I decided to improve my professional career. I was not sure if what I wanted was a master’s degree or some certification. I was encouraged by the certification. The most important thing is that it was a milestone in my life, because I realized that my life goal is to share knowledge.

My life began in 8 bits

This is a story I tell often. My mother retired very young, I was about 10 or 11 years old when it happened. With her severance pay she bought me a Commodore Plus/4, it was my first computer, it was a real madness. However, it didn’t have the number of games and applications like the Commodore 64. Luckily, we managed to change it for a Commodore 128, that was the computer that accompanied me for about 6 years. Having that machine was one of the most beautiful journeys of my life.

Uncle's influence

I remember that when we were kids, my cousins and I would go to computer showrooms where they would bring in computers and set up shop at the former Radisson Hotel. Thanks to my uncle’s influence, we had an advantage over the other attendees, since we used the computers on display as if we were experts, entering games (Load Runner) and using applications (Lotus 123 or WordPerfect 5.2) of the time through MS-DOS commands.
That was a time when we had to “learn and understand” computing. The difference is that today it’s about computers learning from us.
This is AI.

The animation starts

My first job was as a computer instructor at a secretarial institute, but in a short time and thanks to the migration to a Commodore Amiga 2000 computer, I began my passion for animation. In the following months I was working in an advertising agency creating what in the next few years would be my destiny in Chile.

TELENORTE

At just 19 years old, I was in charge of graphics for a television network in Chile called Telenorte. When someone asks you about your dream job, I would say that this was mine. It was almost 5 amazing years.
I learned by doing, I perfected my skills in 2D and 3D animation with Deluxe Paint IV and Lightwave 3D, I also learned camera management, editing and switching with VideoToaster. I definitely had a great time.

Government

I can’t believe that I spent more than 20 years in the public sector. I think that the most remarkable thing was that I always held positions due to my professional skills, since it is very common for selections to be handpicked. I think that the most notable thing about my time in government was being Vice Minister of Science and Technology and General Director of IT in the Ministry of Education.

Education is a legacy

I am convinced that you have a life goal, in my case it is education. In 2019 I started the Digital Academy project, which initially started as a digital skills Bootcamp and then pivoted to a STEM academy. What I highlight most from this experience are the emotions I achieved in the children who attended as my students.

Create | Discover | Learn

For several years now I have been asking a question: Do you think your children are receiving the education that prepares them for today’s world? Until now the answer is always NO, so what are we doing about it?
I don’t want to be indifferent, that’s why I founded Klipo, a STEM academy for kids and teens, where they learn electronics and coding.
